Teacher Education Scholarships

Must have worked in a school for two years and obtained a letter from the school principal. A Minimum 2.5 GPA is required. Complete FAFSA, then contact Financial Aid.

Education majors qualify with a 2.5 GPA, enrolled in 6 hours. Alternative Licensure Program (ALP) students qualify, enrolled in 5 hours. Complete FAFSA, then contact Financial Aid

One-time $500 scholarship for any teacher in training, minimum 3.0 GPA. This is a Fall semester awarded scholarship only and licensed teachers do not qualify (Gifted or TESOL). Contact Teacher Education at (505) 566-3044 for more information. 

All New Mexicans may qualify for tuition-free higher education with a 2.5 GPA enrolled in 6 or more credit hours. Contact Financial Aid

Processed through the state of New Mexico, ECED majors qualify if they are working more than 20 hours per week at a childcare site. FAFSA is not required. Go to: nmececd.org/scholarships.

$1,500 or $2,000 financial award for flexible support to meet the needs of Early Childhood Education students who must be enrolled either part or full-time, have a 2.5 GPA, and need to contact Financial Aid. A letter of request, graduation timeline, and reference will be required for funding.

Visit the Financial Aid office (lower level of the clocktower building) Call or drop by to review eligibility and need. 

Once approved through Financial Aid, contact Teacher Education at (505) 566-3044 for an Advising appointment. (above Mary's Kitchen)

The San Juan College Financial Aid office is open Monday – Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the clock tower building. Financial Aid staff can help you complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Please note: All SJC scholarship recipients remain eligible only if the student earns a 3.0, remains enrolled in 6 hours a semester, meets ongoing eligibility requirements through FAFSA, and pending priorities as determined by the Higher Education Department.

Scholarships are funded by the New Mexico Department of Higher Education.
